- Technology and health go hand in hand over the past few years when it comes to quality healthcare.
- The 4th Digital India Health Summit was held with the aim to discuss the new developments and challenges of technology in healthcare sector.
The summit highlighted various aspects of healthcare delivery and how to effectively and efficiently use the healthcare information technology and management systems. It featured some of the renowned personalities of the healthcare sector like Dr Devi Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Hospitals, Dr Priit Tohver, Advisor to the Government of Estonia, and Richard Alvarez, Former President of Canada Health Infoway, who shared the stage to explore and explain the path towards a digitally advanced healthcare system. They exchange of ideas and innovations that will help the country to advance towards digital health.
Addressing the gathering at the summit, Dr Shetty said, "Healthcare sector would undergo a major digitisation and it will help us to save many lives. In future, the world's largest healthcare provider will not be a hospital. It will be a software. We should focus on the implications of developing robust EMR technologies for hospitals to increase the efficiency for patient care."
Speaking about the digital public healthcare system and its implementation in Estonia, Dr Tohver informed that adoption of digitisation in healthcare is the need of the hour and it will help in solving complex health problems of India.
Highlighting about how technology will be transforming healthcare in India, Alvarez, said, "Technology is going to transform healthcare. We are in a new healthcare economy where you adapt and win or compromise with business.”
The summit which was organised by Chairman, Prof Rajendra Pratap Gupta to explore and explain the path towards a digitally advanced healthcare system, said, “If a tech company like Apple is claiming to make the biggest impact on mankind through health, health companies should commit to making the biggest impact on health through tech." He launched two global health initiatives (Health Parliament and Digital Health Academy) as part of this pledge to transform Digital Health in India.
The various topics which were discussed at the event include - Role of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health across the Continuum of Care, Comparison between Investment vs. Return on Investment, Connected Health – Connecting with the New-Age Patients. Between every session industry leader from healthcare and pharma fraternity were felicitated with awards for innovations in various categories.
